  • topic sentence of what you are going to prove
  • using textual evidence to support that claim
  • then explaining how that quote supports your claim

b) look at how those themes are conveyed in the story - through literary elements
c) Formulate an argumentative statement

For Thursday 10/20 and Friday 10/21

You were to have chosen a story in class so for homework you are to:
1) Read the story and annotate!
2) Outline the elements of literature (separate sheet of paper or computer). Bring this to class.
3) Look at the main character(s) and take notes on their characteristics, behavior, motives, decisions, etc...

In class on Thursday / Friday, we are going to:
- be introduced Vocab lesson #3 by Julie and Nika
- look at how we can develop a thesis from our story's literary elements
- work on our thesis statements
