Have a complete rough draft for the next class this week.
FINAL PAPERS will be due Friday 10.28 and Monday 10.31

We will work on paragraph structure:

• topic sentence of what you are going to prove
• using textual evidence to support that claim
• then explaining how that quote supports your claim

For Monday and Tuesday

After you have dissected your story's elements, you should
a) brainstorm themes of the story
b) look at how those themes are conveyed in the story - through literary elements
c) Formulate an argumentative statement

HW due in class:
1) Thesis statement
2) Draft of essay

For Thursday 10/20 and Friday 10/21

You were to have chosen a story in class so for homework you are to:
1) Read the story and annotate!
2) Outline the elements of literature (separate sheet of paper or computer). Bring this to class.
3) Look at the main character(s) and take notes on their characteristics, behavior, motives, decisions, etc...

In class on Thursday / Friday, we are going to:
- be introduced Vocab lesson #3 by Julie and Nika
- look at how we can develop a thesis from our story's literary elements
- work on our thesis statements

Odd Days - We will not be completing any vocab this cycle.
